We need your help!
Cats are often euthanized when perceived as unable to live functioning lives.
At ACME Cats Rescue Ranch, we don’t believe any cat is ‘unplaceable.’ The resilience and capabilities of feral and special needs cats are inspiring once they feel safe and are provided a place to overcome their physical challenge.

We never set out to start a cat sanctuary. Nope—it was the furthest thing from our minds. We wanted some land out in the country. Raise some cattle. Enjoy the peace and quiet with our three indoor cats.
Then things started to happen. Wesley brought home a pregnant cat from his work. Suddenly we had kittens. An outside cat came with the place. Cats started showing up out of nowhere. And then our friends at Shadow Cats began reaching out with special cats with nowhere to go.
"We have 15 acres," we thought, "We can help." This was over seven years ago.
We now have ACME Cats Rescue Ranch, located just east of Austin. We currently care for a fluctuating number of felines, usually hovering around 30 inside and as part of an onsite outdoor colony.
Over time, we have realized our calling is in special needs cats of all flavors: Cerebellar Hypoplasia ("wobbly cats"), chronic illnesses such as diabetes, mobility issues, loss of limbs, allergies, and even gunshot wound victims.
Then there are the so-called "unplaceables" with nowhere else to go—seniors, ferals, and "un-handleable" have all found a forever home here. We like to ‘Save the Weirdos’ that might not have alternatives or need special care.
WHEN A CAT COMES TO THE RANCH, THEY STAY AT THE RANCH.
We're a small operation, run in and from our ranch house, so heartbreakingly, sometimes, we must say "no" to requests. But with that "no,” we are determined to provide outstanding care and quality of life to the cats we care for. This means number management. It's just the two of us here daily (that's a lot of poop scooping!), but we get by with a lot of help from our fellow friends in rescue, the community, and, frankly, the world.
We have goals that go beyond the health of our cats. For example, this year, we will begin building "The Parker Porch," a large enclosed ‘catio’ on the back of the house, especially for our inside cats' enrichment and enjoyment. The porch is named after Parker, a severe CH boy we lost last year, who came to us as a kitten and, with his immobility, encouraged us to find creative ways to help him enjoy the world and live his best life. This will be in addition to the small window catio currently in the bedroom that is now the dedicated "Rilee Room" in memory of Rilee, a street boy who came to us scruffy, sickly, and literally unhandleable, who became a total love bug. The room now functions to intake and separate cats who may need special care or don't do well in the more open environment of the house. We also foster mamas and kittens from time to time.
The expenses of medications, food, litter, vet visits, and supplies add up. Our current monthly costs total +/- $2,000, not including vet costs or special funds like the Parker Porch.
As a 501(c)(3), we're looking to you to help us continue our mission: to save, shelter, and love these so-called unplaceables, unloveables, and weirdos with nowhere else to go. We hope you'll help.
