GILBERT
Gilbert, the cat that inspired the slogan “Save The Weirdos.”
Gilbert came to us through Central Texas Cat Hospital and is our first CH cat. Gilbert’s CH condition is mild. However, his intention tremors are pronounced. Anytime he has to focus on something, he moves his head side to side several times before he zeroes in on his target. He is also deaf, and being at least part Siamese means he is very vocal; his deafness means he is very LOUD! It is impressive how many vocalizations he can come up with for a cat that was born deaf. He is especially vocal at night after we have gone to bed. We refer to this as Gilbert singing the song of his people. We have to warn our occasional house guests of this. When Gilbert was young, he developed a protective behavior of hiding while sleeping. On more than one occasion, we’ve been unable to find him and worried that he had managed to escape the house. Six years later, he pretty much sleeps in the open.
Gilbert’s antics will always put a smile on our faces.
